Don was presented with his award as part of our 50th anniversary celebration in 2011

The following appeared in the Trainwire in the October 2011 issue

Don joined the NMRA in 1963 and has been a fixture within this Division since then. He is always willing to help with whatever is needed. He is a prolific HO-scale scratch-builder and kitbasher. He loves to build models from a pile of parts instead of buying a model that is ready to use out of the box. Don has put on a number of clinics showing how he built his various structures and rolling stock. Don was Railfest Assistant Chairman for quite a few years as well as serving as a Division Director. He was a member of our 2011 regional convention committee, serving as the Company Store coordinator. Don loves to talk to people about model railroading and has many stories to tell. Don has become our unofficial Division historian, spending many hours trying to piece together the first 50 years of our history.
